Context:

 

Operational in Indonesia for more than 40 years, IOM Indonesia is one of the largest IOM missions in the world working on a wide range of activities in partnership with the Government of Indonesia, civil society, private sector actors, migrants and communities.  IOM Indonesia is engaged in several thematic areas, including: Counter Trafficking and Labour Migration (CT/LM), Disasters, Climate and Resilience (DCR), Immigration and Border Management (IBM), Migrant Assistance, Migration Health, and Resettlement and Voluntary Returns.

 

IOM’s Immigration and Border Management (IBM) Division supports Member states in improving the policy, legislation, operational systems, human resources and administrative and technical structures required to respond more effectively to diverse migration and border management challenges. IBM activities are in line with IOM’s commitment to facilitate orderly, safe and regular migration and mobility.

 

Under the guidance and direct supervision, the National Project Officer and in close coordination with other relevant units in the mission, the successful candidate will contribute to the provision of services and targeted assistance to beneficiaries of IOM’s project on Empowering Migrant Worker Households and Strengthening Capacities at Points of Entry in Indonesia.

 

 

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

 

  • Under the guidance of the National Project Officer, become familiar with IOM Indonesia programmes, particularly labour migration and immigration and border management as well as the wider migration management challenges in Indonesia.
  • Help design and consolidate contents for reports, press release, newsletters and other awareness raising materials.
  • Assist in note taking and translating communications materials to/from Bahasa Indonesia and English.
  • Support in drafting social media contents and creating infographics.
  • Support in developing and maintaining positive relationship with key local media.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned, such as providing assistance to the project team for logistical arrangements of project events such as seminars, conferences, meetings, presentations, duty travel, and other activities.

    Required Qualifications and Experience

     

    Education

     

    • In the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent) or recent graduate of bachelor’s degree in communications, international relations, international development studies, public relations, migration studies, social sciences, or a related field.

     

    Experience

     

    • Education background in the field of social science, political science, migration studies, communications, international relations, or other relevant fields.
    • Relevant professional or volunteer experience with civil society organizations, volunteer groups, is an advantage.

    Skills

     

    • High level of computer literacy is required, especially on graphic design and photo/video editing related software.
    • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe In- Design.
    • Good communication and writing skills, personal commitment, efficiency, flexibility, drive for results, respect for diversity, analytical and creative thinking.
    • Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds.

     

    Languages

     

    Fluency in English and Bahasa, both written and spoken.
